WHAT IS QUINOA?
Quinoa (pronounced "keen-wa") is an ancient grain - it has never been genetically modified. Quinoa is a protein-packed gluten-free grain - actually a seed - that contains all 9 essential amino acids! It can be substituted for rice or is yummy mixed with rice. It comes as white, red, or black quinoa - we offer NZ-grown white and RED quinoa at Organic Flour Mills.
Quinoa is gluten-free so it is great for anyone who is plant-based, vegan, vegetarian, sensitive to gluten, coeliacs - but in fact it is a good source of protein for everyone!
We pack our red quinoa in our exclusively GF millroom in order to avoid any cross-contamination with gluten.
- Quinoa has a low GI (Glycaemic Index) and is high in fibre.
- Quinoa contains omega 3 so is good for keeping triglycerides (bad cholesterol) down and doesn't spike blood sugar.
- Quinoa is healthier than couscous or rice, providing the complete protein your body needs (just like our buckwheat does!).

Red quinoa is easy to cook - just rinse thoroughly (or soak), then simmer as you would rice, for 15 mins, then turn off heat and let sit for 10 mins till all the grains have "popped" open.
Our RED quinoa is available in 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, 20 and now 25kg bags which we ship anywhere in NZ.

Orders received by 1.00 pm Mon - Fri will be shipped the same day. Shipping will be overnight.
Orders received after 1.00 pm will be shipped the following day (Tues - Fri) if the courier has already picked up.
Orders that have a rural delivery address, allow 2 – 3 days for delivery.
Note: Rural delivery costs an extra $4 - $5. If you have a rural delivery address, please contact us with a non-rural address if you would like your order sent via a friend or family member who isn't rural, in order to save the extra $$4 - $5 rural charge.
Local Palmerston North orders received by 1.00 pm will be delivered the same day, otherwise the day following, or for a different time contact us.
Orders for pick up will be available between the hours of 10.00 am and 4.00 pm, or for a different time contact us.
For bulk orders over 20kg please place multiple orders (shipping works out the same), or contact us with details.
