We use only organic certified NZ-grown spelt at Organic Flour Mills - yes - locally grown specially for us! The very best!!
So "what is spelt?" you ask ...
...Spelt is an amazing grain! It’s actually an ancient grain that was relatively recently re-discovered and is a favourite because of its health benefits. Also known as dinkel, spelt is more nutritious than wheat. We are delighted that a local farmer grows organic BioGro certified spelt for us at Organic Flour Mills, in the Manawatu, NZ.
What's so good about spelt?
Spelt (Triticum spelta) has an outer inedible husk or hull that protects it from disease, which is removed after harvesting, before milling into a fine flour that is ideal for baking - makes a delicious fine light loaf of bread :)
Which is better, spelt or wheat?
Spelt is more nutritious than wheat, and although it contains as much gluten, it’s a different type of gluten that is more fragile and water soluble than wheat gluten, so is more easily digested and can often be tolerated by many who are sensitive to wheat.

Orders received by 1.00 pm Mon - Fri will be shipped the same day. Shipping will be overnight.
Orders received after 1.00 pm will be shipped the following day (Tues - Fri) if the courier has already picked up.
Orders that have a rural delivery address, allow 2 – 3 days for delivery.
Note: Rural delivery costs an extra $4 - $5. If you have a rural delivery address, please contact us with a non-rural address if you would like your order sent via a friend or family member who isn't rural, in order to save the extra $$4 - $5 rural charge.
Local Palmerston North orders received by 1.00 pm will be delivered the same day, otherwise the day following, or for a different time contact us.
Orders for pick up will be available between the hours of 10.00 am and 4.00 pm, or for a different time contact us.
For bulk orders over 20kg please place multiple orders (shipping works out the same), or contact us with details.
